Reading in DEIS Schools

Two recent reports that include data on reading performance in DEIS (disadvantaged) schools have been published. A Report on the First Phase of the Evaluation of DEIS, published by the Educational Research Centre, details some positive changes in reading standards in DEIS primary schools betweeen 2007 and 2010. The second,  An Evaluation of Planning Processes in DEIS Primary Schools, published by the Inspectorate of the Department of Education and Skills, details successes and challenges in DEIS schools seeking to raise literacy levels through enhanced school planning.
