Reading Association of Ireland Children's Book Awards - 2005
Winner: Wings Over Delft, by Aubrey Flegg
Special Merit Award: Something Beginning with P, edited by Séamus Cashman
‘Wings Over Delft’ by Aubrey Flegg was the winner of the 2005 RAI Book Award. Published by The O’Brien Press, this is a wonderfully told story which ‘personifies’ what is best in Irish children’s publishing. In accepting his award at the ceremony, which was held in the INTO Teachers’ Club, Aubrey was generous in his thanks to the O’Brien Press and to his editor Mary Webb for their support and encouragement but singled out his wife Jennifer for particular mention in her unwaving support for both himself and his writing.
